Delhi is the capital of India and has a population of over Rs. 1.6 Crore and currently is the second most populated city in India. Over the years its Urban Expansion has incorporated many a towns in neighboring states, bragging it the status of ‘National Capital Region’ with a combined population of over 2.5 Crores.
Proofs of existence in Delhi dates back to as far as 6th Century B.C. Delhi due it Central location and geography has been chosen as the capital by various sultanates, empires and kingdoms. Though ransacked and destroyed multiple times in history, such is the spirit of Delhi that it has stood the test of time and resurrected itself every single time with more of life and energy.
At present, the National Capital Region includes the major towns such as Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Bahadurgarh, Sonepat, Panipat, Karnal, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Rewari and Meerut.

Getting Back to Educational Scenario, at school level Delhi boasts of 5442 Schools with an enrollment of over 30 Lakh Students. For higher studies, Delhi is credited with 4 Central Universities, 5 state Universities and 13 deemed universities. Delhi has over 165 colleges which include 5 medical and 8 engineering colleges.
Prominent Universities among these are University of Delhi, Jawahar Lal University, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Jamia Milia Islamia, National Law University, Indira Gandhi National Open University and Ambedkar University. Premier Engineering colleges in Delhi are IIT Delhi, NIT, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, Delhi Technical University (DCE) and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology. There are also several centers of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in Delhi.
Among the 8 Medical Colleges in Delhi, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is the most revered institution of the country itself. Apart from it, Delhi also boasts of some premier institutions like Shri Ram College of Commerce, Indian Agriculture Research Institute and Indian Statistical Institute.
To serve as a pillar to such an educational infrastructure, there are a no. of renowned libraries in Delhi like Delhi Public Library, British Council Library, and American Centre Library. There are many other libraries also within the Universities and college premises which include famous ones like Delhi University Library and Jamia Milia Islamia University Library.
Still the no. of libraries falls short to cater to the needs of such a large no. of students. For a student keen to join a library in Delhi, the options are sparse and few. Though being the home of premier institutions, Faculties, Private Coaching Institutions and Publishing houses, there is a shortage for library in Delhi.
Aggrieved by the sparseness and experience of inadequacy for a library in Delhi, Gyan Sagar Trust has made a humble effort to extend the presence of libraries in Delhi by founding Venus Libraries in Patel Nagar Delhi.
