Janakpuri is a residential area in Delhi which began to be developed in the decade of 70s. The area is beautifully planned having lots of greenery and parks. The region also boasts of its road infrastructure and is a home to many business tycoons, District Centre, Government offices and corporates. The area is mostly inhabited by Punjabis who have migrated from Pakistan after the division of 1947.
Janakpuri is constituted of 4 main blocks and a village. 4 blocks are named as Block A, B, C and D. Piccadilly Hotel, earlier know as Hilton Hotel has been emerged as a very popular commercial hub in West Delhi. There are weekly markets as well which are set up on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in different parts of the region.

In the domain of Educational facilities, Janakpuri has many a schools that includes St. Francis de Sales School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Andhra Education Society Shri.N.T Rama Rao Memorial Senior Secondary School, D.T.E.A. Senior Secondary School, Modern Era Convent, Sumermal Jain Public School, The Lawrence Public School, Happy Model School, Rainbow School and Govt. Boys Senior Secondary School No. 1&2.
